Mass Spectrometry (MS) Core Facility
The Hopwood Centre for Neurobiology (formally the Lysosomal Diseases Research Unit) Mass Spectrometry (MS) Facility makes analyses available to the SAHMRI community and external customers. The team consists of two scientists, who, combined, have more than 30 years' MS experience between them.
Their aim is to support biomedical researchers by providing interactive, innovative and collaborative bioanalytical capabilities, offering more than just a service. The facility is equipped to perform targeted quantitative analyses as well as high-end MS research. They are very open to applying MS to new areas of research as well as using established assays; to do this they have the following equipment:
- Waters MALDI SYNAPT HDMS - high resolution MS platform used for proteomics, metabolomics, lipidomics and MALDI imaging.
- ABSciex API4000QTrap – triple quadrupole MS used for small molecule quantification, including but not limited to:lipid, oligosaccharide, small drug and metabolite quantification
- Shimadzu Prominence HPLC
- Waters ACQUITY UPLC
- Waters ACQUITY nanoUPLC
