My Baby's Movements

This a randomised trial, funded by NHMRC, to evaluate a user-controlled, personalised and interactive mobile phone tool to support and facilitate maternal fetal movement awareness and reporting of decreased fetal movements. Combined with education for clinicians, the MBM trial is being progressively rolled out across 27 maternity hospitals in Australia and New Zealand, including the Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Adelaide. Over three years, women attending for antenatal care with a singleton pregnancy will be included in measurement of stillbirth rates and other birth outcomes.

Maternal psychosocial outcomes, knowledge of fetal movement, and acceptability of theMBMtool will also be assessed. The trial is headed by Associate Professor Vicki Flenady, Mater Research Institute at the University of Queensland, with Associate Professor Philippa Middleton and Professor Caroline Crowther from SAHMRI/The University of Adelaide as local investigators.
