InnateDB now hosted at SAHMRI

InnateDB is one of the first databases and integrated analysis platforms specifically designed to facilitate systems-level analyses of the mammalian innate immune response. First published in Molecular Systems Biology in 2008, InnateDB has grown since then and now has more than 10,000 users annually world-wide. InnateDB includes over 20,000 manually curated molecular interactions of relevance to innate immunity, providing unprecedented insight into innate immunity networks and pathways and their component molecules.

InnateDB also goes beyond innate immunity and is a comprehensive repository and analysis platform for over 300,000 human and mouse experimentally validated molecular interactions and 3,000+ pathways of relevance to all other mammalian molecular systems (e.g. metabolism, cancer, signalling). Integrated bioinformatics solutions include the ability to investigate user-supplied quantitative data (e.g. gene/protein expression data, GWAS data) at a systems level using Pathway, Gene Ontology and Transcription Factor Binding Site enrichment analyses, as well as with network visualisation and analysis tools. InnateDB Gene Ontology analyses are enhanced by manual annotation of genes that have a published role in innate immunity.

David Lynn, EMBL Australia Group Leader in the Infection and Immunity Theme at SAHMRI has led the development of InnateDB since 2007 and has now brought the latest version to SAHMRI, where it is hosted at innatedb.sahmri.com

Acknowledgments: We would like to acknowledge the kind of assistance of E-research SA and SAHMRI IT in helping to host the InnateDB project here in South Australia. We also acknowledge the use of computing resources from the NeCTAR Research Cloud. NeCTAR is an Australian Government project conducted as part of the Super Science initiative and financed by the Education Investment Fund. DL’s involvement in this project is supported by EMBL Australia.

SAHMRI is located on the traditional lands of the Kaurna Nation.

The SAHMRI community acknowledges and respects the traditional owners, the family clans who are the Kaurna Nation from the Adelaide Plains region of South Australia. We acknowledge the clans of the Kaurna Nation and the sacred knowledge they hold for their country. We pay our respects to the Kaurna Nation, their ancestors and the descendants of these living family clans today.
