Emma completed two undergraduate degrees concurrently, majoring in physiology, pharmacology, Japanese studies and German studies. Following this, she undertook a year of Honours study within the SAHMRI Mind and Brain Theme, completing a thesis entitled “Correlation of specific childhood trauma types with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria for Major Depressive Disorder” and earning a First Class result.

After completing Honours, Emma remained in the theme to undertake a PhD, registered with the University of Adelaide.

Current Project Title

Characterisation of behavioural and pathophysiological impacts of PHF21b gene deletion and PhD finger protein 21b interruption in mice

Research Interests

Mental illness, especially Major Depressive Disorder

Neurophysiology and neuropharmacology
