SAHMRI offers a unique opportunity for Higher Degree Students to undertake their honours or PhD studies in a world-class facility where all staff are working towards the SAHMRI vision of transforming research into health. With around 450 staff and students working in the Institute, SAHMRI provides an exciting environment in which to undertake a Higher Degree.

Given its central location with the developing Health and Medical precinct on North Terrace, SAHMRI provides a unique opportunity for aspiring students to undertake their Honours and PhD projects within a state-of-the-art translational research institute. SAHMRI has strong links with the University of South Australia, University of Adelaide and Flinders University of South Australia.

As a result, SAHMRI is the home to students from all three of South Australia’s major universities who have the opportunity to carry out their research across a broad range of research themes and pillars. Whether you are carrying out laboratory, clinical, population or health services research, the close interaction with researchers from a diverse range of areas and proximity to the clinical coalface provide the opportunity to perform truly impactful research which makes a difference for the health outcomes of our community.

While we recognise that as a student you will be enrolled within a University program, and SAHMRI will complement the program your University offers, SAHMRI is proud to provide a great environment for students to carry out their research and advance in their scientific careers. In a short time, we have created a rich student life at SAHMRI with unique collaborations, access to world leading research programs and facilities and interaction with a diverse research groups via our stimulating weekly scientific seminars and workshops. SAHMRI also has a great social program with monthly events, providing further opportunities for student integration into SAHMRI research community. Our commitment to students is as the heart of SAHMRI.
